Spring is a busy time of year for the Kilpatrick Flyfishers. We’ll be ramping up for the upcoming season by hosting our annual jamboree at the end of April, along with our beginner fly tying and casting lessons.
Fly Fishing Jamboree – Saturday April 28th
Our jamboree this year will feature Colin McKeown, host/producer of “The New Fly Fisher” television series, presenting on fly fishing techniques for trophy northern pike. Tickets can be purchased via Pic A Tic or at one of the next two club meetings (March 20th, April 17th) for $25, or $30 at the door (catered lunch included). Fly Tying Lessons – Starting March 19th
Come out and learn how to tie a number of very effective fly patterns for targeting trout and pike in our prairie and boreal lakes. Lessons are free of charge, with a nominal fee for some tying materials. For more details, directions, and to sign up, go to the fly tying page.
Fly Casting Lessons – Starting April 3oth
Sorry, casting lessons are now full due heavy demand this year.
Come out for our free fly casting lessons and we’ll teach you the basics of false casting, roll casting, and fly presentation. Our club members will be out in force to provide as much instruction as you need to get out on the water and catch fish this spring. Saskatoon Sports & Liesure Show – March 8th – 11th
Don’t forget to come down and visit our booth the Saskatoon Sports & Liesure Show. We’ll have a number of members doing fly tying demonstrations and answering any of your questions about joining our club or just fly fishing in general. Look forward to seeing you there.
